MY FAVOURITE DRUGSTORE FOUNDATION

One of the biggest issues with drugstore make-up for us pale skinned ladies out there is finding a suitable foundation for your skin tone. I used to have problems finding one that was light enough to match my skin for a start (the drugstores are getting better at supplying these needs), then sometimes there is a let down with the foundation oxidising after application. The orange look is not for me. I have tried and tested many different products out there, and always always go back to Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation shade 51 in Light Vanilla. I decided to brave it out and do a before and after shot of the foundation's coverage for you guys, as showing a simple swatch on the arm is not the same when it comes to foundation. A beauty shot (excusing my bed head hair) is much better at displaying whether it covers pores, redness, dark circles and/or blemishes.

Here is why I love Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation:
  1. it gives me a radiant glow/ dewy finish
  2. medium buildable coverage
  3. lovely smell
  4. long-lasting - enhanced with primer & a powder to set
  5. easy to blend
On the before shot you can see that my skin is prone to redness with dry patches. It is relatively blemish free, however you can see those dreaded pores around my T-zone, as well as dark circles under my eyes! If you compare this to the after shot, where I have applied only the foundation with the real techniques buffing brush you can see that my complexion is evened out. My skin looks a lot more smooth and the purple circles under my eyes are greatly reduced (in my usual make up routine I would then go in with some concealer to finish it off). I think my skin looks brighter with Bourjois Healthy Mix and has a nice dewy finish. If you aren't keen on the dewy look you can add some powder to create a matte finish instead, but with my dry skin I prefer my skin to look more radiant. For some this might be an issue - the shade I have chosen is slightly on the yellow side but that is fine for me as I have neutral-yellow undertones, for others with pink undertones this might be more problematic.

Other foundations that are in my top 5 include;
  • Bourjois' 123 Perfect Colour Correcting cream
  • L'oreal True match n1 ivory & n2 vanilla mixed together
  • L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream Light
  • Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation Fair 100
What is your favourite drugstore foundation?
