KIKO COSMETICS | VENUS 'GRUNGE' INSPIRED PALETTE

As many of you guys might already know I have lusting after Lime Crime's Venus Palette since last year, but after the recent scandal with people's credit card information being stolen, and the unprofessional way the CEO handled the situation. I couldn't ignore all the previous claims that have been made about the company. This means that although I have liked and used their products (candyfuture lipsticks, velvetines and eyeshadow primer) that I have bought in the past I will not endorse the company any further - there are so many great beauty products out there with so much variety available!

When I saw that KIKO cosmetics had a sale on their individual infinity eyeshadows I decided that I would make up a Venus inspired palette. Although I did try and colour match as closely as I could with what was available on the online store, there were some eyeshadows that were sold out hence why I would say that I feel the colours I have chosen are a good alternative but perhaps not a 'dupe' as such. However I will include the ones that I am planning on buying in the future for a closer colour match!

First up I choose Infinity Shadow in number 232 'Sparkling Burgundy'. I feel it is definitely more on the purple side than red and has a slight shimmer through it. I would say that the better colour match to Lime Crime's 'Venus' is the second shadow I have swatched 209 'Golden Red', although again this have a shimmer finish. 209 'Golden Red' was definitely closer to the shade Venus than Shell, therefore on my next shop I am considering 205 'Golden Coral' instead. Next up I choose 201 'Sparkling Silk', I originally wanted 202 'Pearly Light Gold' but this was sold out. In the Lime Crime palette Aura is your typical off-white pearly shade so for me Kiko's infinity shade number 201 was close enough! For shade's 4 & 5 in the palette it is your typical matte rust and dark brown, 210 'Satin Brick' and 235 'Mat Chocolate' were a near perfect match. I really like the colour of  226 'Mat Coral Rose'. It is a gorgeous orange with slight pinky undertones. Number 238 'Mat Light Taupe' was my second choice for a colour match to Divine as 337 'Mat Cappucino' was sold out, however I will get plenty of use from this shade I expect. Finally, 233 'Pearly Mahogany' was chosen to complete the palette. Again, it has a different finish to Muse but I really like the shade. In the pot it appears a lot more purple than it does on the skin and there is a lovely buttery texture to these shadows.

KIKO cosmetics are an Italian brand that are cruelty free, they create high-quality products for a fair price. The eyeshadows are very pigmented as well as having a really nice texture. I highly suggest checking them out if you like the idea of making up your own palettes or their other products!

Thank you for writing this post! I bought all the kiko shades so I didn't need to risk the Venus palette and they are very good quality!
