BOURJOIS ROUGE EDITION VELVET LIPSTICK

Bourjois is one of my favourite drugstore brands for makeup. I am yet to dislike a makeup item from their brand. I especially love my go-to affordable foundation: Healthy Mix in vanille clair. I have repurchased this foundation many times now as it gives me a radiant finish with medium coverage. Today I am not going to chat about my favourite foundation but these amazing lip lacquers.

Swatches left to right: 07 Nude-ist & 08 Grand Cru

07 Nude-ist
I have been really loving the nude lip this year; courtesy of the beautiful Kylie Jenner. But due to my love of a bright bold lip I was yet to try it out. There was no better place to start than with this lipstick. Please note: for the Kylie Jenner look this lipstick has is much more pink pigment, but for a newbie to nude lips I would say this is perfect! When swatched the colour is on the reddish pink end of the nude spectrum. But once dried it is lighter so don't threat if you are wanting a lighter lip.

08 Grand Cru
I have a great love for red lips. This liquid lipstick is no exception. I really like the deep crimson red colour. I know some people have reviewed that this one in particular has a different consistency compared to the others. I have also found this to be the case, but if you reapply the lipstick it builds up to a gorgeous colour and does dry just as nice. It is just harder work than the others. It has a beautiful deep red and matte finish. I find that the best thing about it being liquidised is that once dried it does not seem to bleed. This removes the need for lip liner! However, you can still apply it if you really want to. I found it to be a much better formula than MUA liquid lipstick in Reckless, as the MUA dried and flaked off after a couple of hours. Therefore, if you are lusting after the Limecrime velvetines in red velvet this is a much better dupe!

When you apply the lipstick, pay attention to your lips as it dries - it has the most moisturising and soft feeling left on them. Like velvet. This is probably due to the evanescent oils in the formula. I noticed that when I had both of these lipsticks on during different days that it was much less transferable when my usual lipsticks. The biggest surprise was that the formula was almost waterproof on my lips - when I had a drink I had some water droplets just sat on top of them. I don't think I have never experienced this before from any other lipstick! How odd. The formula claims to have a 24-hour hold. I would say that it definitely has around 12 hours as I wore the shade Grand Cru on Christmas Day, and after that there was a stain left on my lips still to be removed with make-up wipes. I would have to do a full 24-hour test to confirm whether or not this was actually true.

I am definitely in love with the consistency of these lipsticks, and I am planning to buy more from the brand. On my wishlist are the colours; 03 Hot Pepper and 02 Frambourjoise.

Have any of you guys tried these lipsticks? I am more than willing to give Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lacquer Lipstick my recommendation!
