90s GRUNGE LOOK | URBAN DECAY PULP FICTION PALETTE

Hello everyone, today I will be sharing a 90s grunge makeup look using Urban Decay's Pulp Fiction palette which I got for Christmas. Yes, I know the palette is so last year and hard to come by. I'm guessing the best chance to get a hold of the palette will be looking on eBay but I really like matte eyeshadows and this little palette has exactly that - perfect for grunge look as I don't want any shimmer. It is all about the matte.

Left to Right: Righteous | Tyranny | Vengeance | Furious | Anger

Pulp Fiction Palette comes in 5 shades; Righteous (cream matte), Tyranny (warm brown matte), Vengeance (medium-dark brown matte), Furious (black satin)/Anger (white satin). All of which are reference to the film's bad-ass misquoted biblical quotation from Jules Winnifield, if you have seen the film you will know exactly which scene I'm talking about. The quote is also printed on the front cover, with the back instructing you to 'be cool honey bunny'. The inside of the casing is a beautiful black and white paint splatter print accompanied by a mirror, and a blood-red double-ended brush.I personally think this is excellent as I like Urban Decay Brushes. The palette is aimed at recreating the ultra cool Mrs. Mia Wallace's look, with an instruction card explaining where to apply which shades. The palette is great at achieving her look, but it also comes in handy for other 90s style make-up looks which were a huge hit at end of 2014 and have carried onto 2015.

Face
For the face you want to be using a light foundation, for darker skin tones try and go one shade lighter than your usual, or just use your winter foundation instead of your summer one. Once you have applied your liquid foundation buff it with a powder, as you should be going for a matte finish. For a true 90s look do not put too much emphasis on your brows, instead lightly fill them in with brow gel & shadow, or only a pencil - whichever suits you best! As far as contouring goes, only apply a light layer of a blush. I chose to mix a blush with a bronzer as my skin was looking very ghostly.
Eyes
For a 90s grunge inspired look it is all about the dark smokey eyes! A mix of blacks, greys and/or brown should work. Once you are happy with your smokey look be sure to coat on lots of mascara!
For my look I put kohl liner across my upper and lower lash line and blended it out. Then Tyranny to my crease and Vengeance on my lids, I blended them out using fluffy eyeshadow brush to get rid of any harsh lines. I then blended Furious on my upper and lower lash lines, before using a mix of Righteous and Anger as a highlighter on my brow bone.
Lips
For a grunge look reds, browns and nudes are all perfect. Be sure to line those lips with a brown toned lip liner!
Today I went for the 'your lips but better' lipstick I own. I put face powder on top to give it a more matte finish, as well as re-lining the lipstick around my lips for lip liner effect since I don't currently own a nude lip liner (I know it is honestly terrible!).

The Rundown
Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Light Vanilla
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Rimmel Clear Complexion Powder Transparent
Rimmel Brow Gel Dark Brown

I love this look for day time and night time so it is pretty darn versatile! For those of you who enjoy creating a dark smokey eye this is perfect for you. See y'all later I'm off to rock out to some Nirvana.

Excellently done! Though I do love a bit of shimmer myself (that's why I'm still using Urban Decay after 15 years!) x
