TOP TIPS TO BEAT THE WINTER BLUES

January was a long month, and sometimes it just seems to go on forever. The winter blues kick in full force for many as the holiday season is over and leaves us feeling drained and fed up with the dull weather. Nevertheless, it is February now and there is an end in sight to winter, but for those feeling fed up with winter; here is my top tips to help get you through the rest of the season.
Treat yourself to a new pair of pyjamas, or dig out your favourite pair of oldies. When it is freezing outside there is nothing better than curling up with the cosiest pair of PJs and fluffy socks.

Take a trip out to a cafe and get a speciality coffee or tea. Trust me you'll feel loads better despite the cold. There is something hugely comforting about holding a hot drink in your hands and sipping away whilst you watch the world go by

Yes, there is rain/snow outside, and yes nobody wants to go out when you already feel rubbish. But by preparing for the worst and bundling up in your warmest clothes before taking the dog for a walk makes facing outside much easier. Positives are that you'll receive some much-needed daylight and fresh air, and you'll feel better for doing a spot of exercise too.

This is a great hobby to dive into during winter. It is an indoor activity and takes up a fair amount of time in the day. Best of all - there is the reward of tasty treats.

Try to keep in contact with your friends during winter, when the sun disappears it is so easy to hide inside and get trapped in a bubble. Simply by phoning a close friend and having a catch up you will make you feel loads better. Or even better yet inviting them over and watching a movie should provide some much-needed laughs. Laughter is the best medicine after all.

At the start of the year, it is a great time to start planning a holiday. You can get some fab deals and have the bonus of  an event to look forward to later in the year. Of course, not everyone can afford such a luxury every year but by planning out a budget at the start of the year, along with opening a savings account that great location you have in mind might not seem so unattainable after all.

There is no time like the present to have a clear-out. Maybe there are some DIY jobs around your home that you keep thinking that you will 'eventually get around to', now is the time to do them. Put those shelves up or those picture frames.

My favourite activity at the end of any season - pinning fashion inspiration in preparation for the next! As much as I love jumpers, boots and fabulous costs I am looking forward to wearing pretty blouses, skirts and lighter colours for spring

It is very easy to get caught up in winter and feel rather depressed, more so for people that suffer SAD (seasonal affective disorder), but by doing the little things it can help towards a more positive mindset. What are your top tips for surviving winter?
