LAURA MERCIER SILK CREME FOUNDATION

THE BEFORE

THE AFTER

I bought the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation earlier in the year, and although Laura Mercier has now released the Silk Creme Moisturising Photo Finish & the Oil Free Photo Finish, I thought I should put up my impression of this high end foundation for those eBay purchases or those who have bought but haven't tested it out yet. For reference I have chosen the shade soft ivory (I am pale with more yellow undertones) so any foundations of the yellow side are perfect for me.

To apply this foundation it is recommended to use a small amount with a sponge. In the pictures above I used a dampened Real Techniques 'Miracle Complexion Sponge' to blend.  And as you can see a very small amount has gone a long way. I typically suffer from dry skin patches with the occasional spot. Laura Mercier Silk Creme covers the patches without making them look blotchy, and blurs any redness from blemishes etc. Furthermore, it is a medium/high coverage foundation that does not look 'cakey', absolutely brilliant. I will point out that the bags under my eyes were still visible but less noticeable. I typical still need a concealer to finish off the make-up base but that isn't unusual for me! (Student life with lack of sleep).
Since only a pea size amount is needed the 35ml tube lasts for quite a while - given that I tend to use drugstore foundation for everyday use and a high end foundation for special occasions, this is fantastic. I will also point out that the tube design is a bonus since you can control the amount that you squeeze out much better.

So if you guys ever fancy splashing out on a more expensive foundation I highly recommend Laura Mercier Silk Creme for a healthy dewy glow that does not look oily. I imagine the moisturising photo finish will best match this formula, and the oil free will be better suited to those with oilier skin? This is only speculation though, when I go to repurchase I will be able to compare much better.
