HOW TO GET ROSE GOLD HAIR

It's the new colour featured all over Pinterest 'Rose Gold' (and coincidentally the colour I decided to rock over the summer when I fancied a change from my spring silver & lavender locks.) In essence rose gold hair is a peachy pastel colour that can look oddly natural under certain light. I'm loving the low maintenance of splashing some top-up colour ever-so often, with maintaining warm tones in my hair for summer. I guess it is something a bit different, and I love it.
As the popularity of the pastel peach grows I thought I'd share with y'all how I got my locks to this cute shade!

As seen above I started off with silvery hair with purple highlights throughout it. For others wanting to achieve this tone you are best starting off with a light blonde hair colour! Due to my hair being so ashy before dyeing the first dye mix turned my hair peach with purpley highlights.
For the dye mix I used 1/4 red: 1/4 orange: 1/2 pink and added conditioner until I achieved my desired shade. Each individual person can decided how dark/light they would like it through their hair. I personally like a balance between a light pastel shade that is still bright, it can be hard to tell but once you play around with the process a few times you will start to adjust the colour in the pot to your predicted shade you want on your hair. It's is less complicated than it sounds really - I like to think of it as creating a shade of paint for your hair!

I left my mix in for around half an hour and applied it to dry hair. This is because I find that when my hair is dry pastel colours come out more evenly, you can also apply it to damp hair similar to any other semi-permanent colour ever. I tend to apply my colour top-up to wet hair between shampoo and conditioning my hair, as shampoo opens the hair follicles which lets the colour in and conditioner seals them. The result is a gorgeous peach colour that unlike many other bright hair colour I find easy to maintain.

My chosen products are: Fudge Paint Box in Clockwork Orange & Red Corvette, Pravana Chromasilk in Neon Pink (updated to Maria Nila Colour Refresh in Pink Pop, which smells incredible guys) and Tresemme conditioner. Of course, any other white conditioner should be fine too. There are other great brands for semi-permanent hair colours that I would also recommend including Directions & Manic Panic. As you experiment, you will find products that suit you and other that don't just like any other type of beauty product ever!!

Have you ever tried experimenting with unusual hair colours, what has been your favourite?
